Child Safe Policy

Lighthouse Christian College is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. Lighthouse Christian College has zero tolerance for child abuse. In response to the Betrayal of Trust Report, the Victorian Government has introduced compulsory minimum standards (Child Safe Standards), to ensure a child safe environment. Lighthouse Christian College maintains a strong focus on the safety and wellbeing of all students who attend the College.

The standards seek to ensure the protection of children from abuse in organisations that work with children. All Victorian schools are required to with the Child Safe Standards, as stipulated by the Minister for Education in Ministerial Order No.1359 – Child Safe Standards from July 2022.

Our policies, procedures and guidelines support our practices and enable ongoing compliance with legislative requirements for safe environment for children of all ages. The College has developed a range of policies and resources that are designed to promote a culture of child safety:

All adults working at the College (including staff, volunteers, contractors etc.) are required to abide by the Child Safe Policy and comply with the Child Safe Code of Conduct. Copies of documents relating to the Child Safe Standards can be accessed by clicking on the document links below.

The College has appointed Mr Wing Leong (Principal), Mr David Holloway (Deputy Principal) and Mr Joseph Kan as and Mrs. Karen Lloyd as Child Safety Officers to assist children and adults who may have concerns in relation to child abuse and child safety.
