The Christian choice for a nurturing start to education

At Lighthouse Christian College, our Early Learning Centre (ELC) offers a loving foundation in faith-based education and Christian education for children aged 3 and 4. We provide an environment where young learners feel secure, valued, and part of a warm, welcoming community. Here, children form lifelong friendships and experience the joy of growing together as part of a Christ-centered family of many nations. A total of 15 hours a week for our 3 and 4-year-old kindergarten programs are funded by the Victorian State Government. Find out more about Best Start Best Life: Quick guide for parents.

A supportive community rooted in Christian values

Our ELC focuses on fostering character development and faith, blending values-based education for kids with enriching learning experiences. Through stories, songs, and group activities based on biblical principles in education, we help young minds discover kindness, respect, and love in their earliest years.

What sets us apart is the strength of our community. Families and children alike are embraced with open arms, ensuring every child feels a sense of belonging. We believe these formative years also offer the chance to build connections that last a lifetime, as children play, learn, and grow in a shared spirit of joy and friendship.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

ELC 3-Year-Old Program

Our 3-Year-Old program provides a safe and welcoming environment where children can begin their educational journeys surrounded by care and Christian values. Through faith-based education, we focus on social-emotional development, helping young learners cultivate essential skills like sharing, turn-taking, and cooperation.

  • Play-based learning includes art, music, sensory play, and role-playing to spark curiosity and encourage teamwork.
  • Integrates Christian principles into activities to build a strong moral foundation.
  • Encourages collaboration and personal growth through creative and interactive experiences.

Play is at the heart of the 3-year-old experience. Creative activities like art, music, sensory play, and role-playing not only spark curiosity but also encourage teamwork and collaboration – key building blocks for both friendship and personal growth. Christian principles are woven into every activity, fostering a strong moral foundation.

ELC 4-Year-Old Program

For 4-year-olds, we expand on these foundations by encouraging independence, teamwork, and a continued sense of community. While learning becomes more structured, the emphasis remains on nurturing relationships and fostering a love of exploration—all within a Christ-centered education environment.

  • The ELC 4-Year-Old program blends structured learning with a play-based approach to prepare children for primary school.
  • Foundational literacy is introduced through storytelling, phonemic awareness games, and early handwriting activities, helping children recognise letters, sounds, and simple words using interactive, multisensory methods.
  • Numeracy skills are developed through counting games, sorting, and basic problem-solving tasks.

Through group projects and peer interactions, 4-year-olds can form meaningful friendships based on cooperation, understanding, and mutual respect. These activities are further enriched by biblical teachings, helping children grow together in faith and build their understanding of God’s love.

Outdoor Play and Discovery

Discovery goes hand in hand with connection, and our outdoor spaces provide children with opportunities to explore God’s creations and develop friendships through play. The well-equipped areas encourage physical activities, social interaction, and hands-on learning. Outdoor time is not only about fun but also about forming bonds and learning teamwork in a setting that celebrates wonder.

Strong family Connections

We treasure the bond between parents and educators in creating a supportive and loving environment for every child. Regular communication, parent-teacher meetings, and school events reinforce this partnership, creating a seamless connection between the classroom and home.

Parents are welcomed as part of our Lighthouse community, sharing in the joy of raising Godly generations together.
